We specialize in rubber flooring installation with durable interlocking tiles, rubber rolls, mats, and heavy-duty options designed to perform and last.
Why Choose Rubber Flooring?
Rubber flooring is by far the favored choice for gyms, indoor playgrounds, and fitness centers, but its benefits extend to other uses as well. Some of the reasons our customers choose our rubber flooring solutions include:
- Durability. Vulcanized rubber flooring lasts 15 to 20 years or more, making it one of the most long-lasting flooring solutions. Rubber naturally rebounds after impact, making it resistant to dents, scuffs, and compression marks, and, unlike vinyl or wood, rubber doesn’t easily chip, crack, or splinter.
- Shock absorption. The natural elasticity of rubber provides shock absorption, not only reducing stress on joints during exercise but also preventing damage to dropped weights and falling objects.
- Sound insulation. Rubber reduces both impact and airborne sound as well as vibration for a comfortable environment.
- Easy maintenance. To keep your rubber flooring clean, give it a quick sweep or vacuum followed by a damp mop, and spot-clean as needed. A neutral cleaner and soft scrub pad can be used for high-traffic areas.
- Eco-friendly. Its long lifespan, low VOC emissions, and recyclability make rubber flooring an eco-friendly choice.
- Safe for high-impact areas. Slip-resistant and shock-absorbant, rubber flooring provides a safer surface for sports, fitness, and children’s play areas.
- Prevents damage to the sub-floor. Protect your wood or concrete sub-floor from damage caused by dropped weights, machinery, or water damage with shock-absorbant, water-resistant rubber flooring.

Our Process
We pride ourselves on professionalism, quality work, and cleanliness. We want our customers to be 100% satisfied not only with the outcome of their project, but with the entire experience from quote to clean-up.
Step 1: Scope of the Project
We’ll begin by asking you about your goals for the project, measuring the area where the new floor will be installed, and assessing the sub-floor. We’ll need to know if we’ll be removing the current floor and if any equipment needs to be removed. We’ll provide you with your rubber flooring options for thickness, durability, and color and assist you in designing your best solution.
Step 2: Free Estimate Provided
Our team will put together a free design and estimate for your project. Once your deposit is received, we’ll schedule your installation. Most installations are scheduled between one and four weeks out and are subject to materials delivery timelines.
Step 3: Installation Day
We’ll arrive around 8:00 a.m. to install your interlocking rubber tiles or rubber rolls. Rubber rolls are a permanent solution and are installed using a polyurethane adhesive. Our expert installers will ensure that all seams are tight and minimally visible. A heavy roller will be used to ensure the material is flat and smooth for the best result. For an extra finishing touch, the space where the rubber meets the wall can be covered with a baseboard or shoe for an additional cost.
Rubber Flooring Cost Factors
What Does Rubber Floor Installation Cost in DuPage County?
In DuPage County and the greater Chicago suburbs, installing commercial-grade rubber flooring typically ranges between $3 and $15 per square foot, depending on material type, thickness, sub-floor condition, and site complexity.
Here’s what to know:
-
Material costs: Rubber tiles often run about $3–$8 per square foot, while poured-in-place or premium rolls can reach $9–$16 per square foot or more.
-
Installation/labor: Expect additional labor costs of approximately $1–$4 per square foot for professional installation — especially when there’s floor prep, adhesive work, or removal of existing flooring.
-
Local factors in DuPage: Being a suburban Chicago market, expect slightly higher labor rates than national average; accessibility, timelines, and subcontractor availability may impact cost.
-
Typical project ranges: For a mid-sized space (say 1,000 sq ft), budget roughly $3,000–$15,000, depending on scope.
-
Cost drivers to watch:
-
Sub-floor repair or leveling needed
-
Removal of old flooring or adhesive
-
Custom colors, logos, or patterns
-
Access issues (e.g., tight stairwells or high-rise)
-
Moisture mitigation or specialty adhesives

Types of Rubber Flooring
At Assembly and Repair, we offer all major types of rubber flooring, including rubber rolls, interlocking tiles, and rubber mats. Our rubber flooring is available in 1/4” to 3/4” thickness (most commercial and residential applications do not require more than 3/8” thickness). Colors include black as well as 10%, 20%, 35% and 95% color/speckle fill.
Rubber Rolls
Rubber rolls are ideal for a durable, permanent rubber flooring solution and are the recommended choice for most projects. They are cut to size and glued to the subfloor using a permanent polyurethane adhesive.
What to know about rubber rolls:
- Permanent, durable solution
- Seamless appearance
- Won’t move or slip over time
- Water resistant
Interlocking Rubber Tiles
Interlocking rubber tiles offer a durable, semipermanent solution. They work well for small or irregularly shaped rooms or areas that require design flexibility over time. Tiles are cut to size and installed with polyurethane adhesive.
What to know about rubber tiles:
- Less permanent than rubber rolls
- Seams are more visible
- May move or shift over time
- Less water resistant
Rubber Mats
In some commercial settings, permanently installed rubber mats may be the correct solution. Our team can provide a durable, safe, professionally installed rubber mat flooring in your industrial workplace or heavy weight lifting gym.
What to know about rubber mats:
- Mostly used for commercial applications
- Designed for very heavy duty needs
- Good for anti-fatigue
- Can be easily moved/replaced
Where is Rubber Flooring Used?
Rubber flooring has become a popular choice for a number of high-traffic locations where safety, durability, and shock absorbency are required.
Home and Commercial Gyms
Rubber flooring is the number one flooring choice for gyms due to its durability, shock absorption, and safety profile. Non-skid, non-slip, impact-reducing rubber makes gyms safer and protects the sub-floor from damage caused by dropped weights. It’s easy to clean and water resistant. Rubber flooring’s durability is unmatched, meaning it can last 15 to 20 years or more. Its natural sound dampening characteristics also help to provide a comfortable environment even when the gym is at its busiest. This goes for fitness centers, weight rooms, and rehabilitation centers as well.
Garages and Workshops
Rubber floors can withstand heavy loads, like vehicles, exercise machines, or workshop machinery. They cushion dropped tools or sports equipment and protect the concrete subfloor from damage. Rubber is resistant to oil, gasoline, antifreeze, and other garage chemicals, and it’s easy to clean. If you enjoy spending time in your garage, a rubber floor can decrease fatigue by providing a cushioned foundation for your feet and skeleton. It also offers an aesthetically pleasing option for a functional space.
Retail Spaces, Dog Kennels, Indoor Playgrounds and More
Wherever a durable, safe, easy to clean and/or sound dampening environment is desired, rubber flooring is an excellent option. Available in a variety of thicknesses and colors, rubber flooring has become the flooring of choice in homes and businesses across the country.
